Walk review from Mike Fordyce May 16th 2009 Beinn Sgritheall

7 members and 2 visitors braved the forecast cold windy conditions to tackle this one. After initially meeting at Dornie Hall and arranging car share, we left at 08.00 for the start point at NG814119 approx 3km west of Arnisdale. Due to the high easterly winds forecast combined with wind chill, it was decided to use this side in and back, instead of the circular from Arnisdale.

The day started with a push up through the old oak wood, the start of which was found easily with the help of a Don Shanks marker post! Pruning shears would have been handy for this section. After crossing a stile, a short push to the Lochan and a short break, the going became easier for a time before steepening towards the summit which all managed with relative ease. Our bothy shelter came in very useful as a refuge on the summit for lunch in the cold conditions. After taking in the outstanding views towards the Small Isles, Knoydart and well beyond we descended by the same route back to the cars.

Some members stopped off for a drink at Glenelg Inn and reflected on what had been an enjoyable and successful day.
