Report Mar 2010

Walk review from Dee Taylor 21st March 2010. Attadale to Nonach Lodge by Killilan. 8 miles.

The day started at 8am, when cars were deposited at Nonach for the return journey. At the Dornie Hall car park, a good turn out of 7 members and 3 guests were picked up by D&H Coaches at 9am for the journey to Attadale Gardens car park. The weather started off promising with dry sunny conditions while we passed through Strathan and on to cross the River Attadale, gently climbing to the forest where we took a short detour for a short break at Loch an Lasaich. Rain started here but did not dampen the spirits of anyone or spoil the views. Rejoining the path to Killilan, conditions underfoot were extremely wet and several of the larger puddles were home to our first sightings of frogspawn this year. Continuing on, enjoying looking through Glen Ling with its waterfalls and views of Ben Killilan, we paused to look at the ruins of the old Shepherds cottages before stopping for lunch at Shepherds Burn. The old wooden bridge crossing here is in a state of disrepair but the new structure is in place awaiting erection. A short walk took us back to Nonach where it was a game of "leap the frogs" walking back on the metalled road to the cars, which were parked near Sallachy.

A short day out of around 4 hours walking on this one, ending in lovely sunshine and everyone in agreement that it was a good day out.

Refreshments were taken at the Clachan Bar, Dornie.
