Walk Report for Sunday 16th January 2011 by Dee Taylor

 Beinn Bhuide ( 703m) replaced by The Falls of Glomach from Morvich.( 8 miles)

The new season of walks got off to a good start with ten members meeting at Dornie on a blustery wet morning
raring to get on to the hills. Accessing the situation, weather conditions dictated that the high option of Beinn Bhude
was not viable due to the high winds forecast. The suggestion of The Falls of Glomach was well received and decided on.

Now that the access to Dorusduain car park has been closed off to vehicles, we drove to Morvich outdoor centre
and took the newer path from Innis a` Chrothe into Gleann Choinneachain. This path added about 30 minutes to the walk time.
Conditions were very wet underfoot but the walking was enjoyable on good clear paths onto Bealach na Sroine but
strong gusts of wind and rain hampered progress at times but the views were never lost nor the enthusiasm to go on.
On the steep accent to the Falls, the sky cleared and the roaring of the Allt Coire Lochain was heard as it tumbled into the Falls.
We knew a treat was waiting for us after such heavy rain fall and we were not disappointed.
The Falls were magnificent, and with great care we all managed to descend down the path a few metres to get the best views.
A short photo break here before ascending back up to the main inward path again for lunch in the rain.
 Apart from a few Deer, the only other wild life seen was a vole scampering into his burrow.

We returned by the inward path which by afternoon had become like a river in places with several of us agreeing that we had never
experienced the path so wet and boots were not coping too well keeping the feet dry.
Apart from that, it was a very good day out in beautiful surroundings and an early finish of 3.30pm.

Refreshments and debriefing were had at the Kintail Lodge Hotel by a few of the group.
